A mathematical model for suspension bridges with energy dependent
boundary conditions
Yongda Wang
Abstract:
We suggest a new mathematical model for dynamical suspension bridge
with energy dependent boundary conditions. The roadway of the bridge is
viewed as a long-narrow thin rectangular plate. After reducing the evolution
problem corresponding to the model to a variational problem, we show that
the original evolution problem admits a unique solution. Moreover,
the unique solution is explicitly represented.
