Proceedings of the 2003 Colloquium on Differential Equations and Applications, Maracaibo, Venezuela, November 3-8, 2003.

Foreword

The IV International Colloquium on Differential Equation and Applications took place at the University of Zulia. The Colloquium was organized by the Research Center on Applied Mathematics (CIMA) of the University of Zulia, the Department of Automatization and Control of the University of Los Andes, and the Research Council of the Eastern University, Cumana.

This international multidisciplinary event provided an outstanding opportunity for junior and senior researchers from different areas of the applied mathematics to meet and discuss the state of the art of the theory of Differential Equations, and Dynamical Systems. Papers were sought on a variety of topics including Discrete Dynamical Systems, Control Theory, Stochastic Differential Equations, Nonlinear Optimization Methods, Fluid Mechanics, and Numerical Analysis.

The Organizing Committee consisted of: Hugo Leiva, Neptalí Romero, Raúl Naulin, Eliécer Colina, Gustavo Ponce, Felipe Linares, Miklos Farkas, Robert E. O'malley (Jr.), Angel Domingo Rueda (chairman), Jorge Guíñez., Daniel Núñez

Some of the papers presented at the conference are included in these proceedings and reflect the authors contributions to the conference. Please see the table of contents.
